hi, Kat. I think I can answer the book thing. In your disabilities listed below, you state that you have numbness and tingling in your extremities and weakness in your right hand. I have similar issues with my hands, and I had to give up reading books. I was unable to hold them. If the judge were to ask me a question like that, I would say that for years I didn't read them even though reading is one of my favorite hobbies. it wasn't until my husband bought me a Kindle that I can prop against my hand brace while laying flat in my bed that I was able to read.

So… If I were only to say what type of books I like to read, it might seem like I was lying about my hand issues. If I have the ability to hold the book for half an hour and still concentrate through the pain and still be able to read despite the shaking of the book (that should be occurring if I have a weakness in my hands), I probably have the ability to do more with my hands than I was letting on.

of course, I could be way off base, but that's my guess.

Kat, I have to agree with elastigirl.  The judge may have asked, what seems to be, senseless questions, but those judges are pretty smart clever.  I'm thinking he may have had alterior motives for asking...like testing your credability or gathering info in a 'round-about way Huh?

Just a thought...

Well, I can't hold books anymore, I have a nook that I have to put against a pillow because if I hold a book or the nook for too long, my hands and arms start to really tingle and hurt. I guess I didn't think to mention that. It has gotten worse since my initial app also. Everything has, actually. I do have a lawyer and we are appealing. I'm still going through the denial and have noticed some inconsistencies. Like they say I have worked since my onset date but what happened is I filled out an app for my husband to work a second job before Christmas, and I accidentally put my social. So they checked my background...it was corrected to his where he worked, and I didn't work there..they should have called to verify this...plus they say one of the jobs I can do I was doing that job when I became disabled...VE says can't do previous jobs..that's inconsistent right there...long road to go.

I do not agree that all judges are smart or ask smart questions. My judges made stupid mistakes and wrote some nonsense things in decision letter.

I was surprised when my attorney said a judge with 50% approval rate has high approval rate since he approves half the cases.

Yeah no kidding mine is at 20%. Anyway...appeal filed, addendum written by myself and being sent to congressman, senator, and lawyer. Grievance sent to chief administrative law judge. I am doing all that I can. If I get denied at the appeal level, I don't know what I'll do.

Also a personal letter my husband wrote is being added, because I've seen some people do that, attest to how daily life is affected.
