Hello folks, while I do not have many posts on these forums, I have been following the forums (this particular web site and others) for a long time.  It is because of these places that I was able to move my case along from all of the info I gathered.  I am 55 and filed my 1st claim in Aug of 2007 for fibro, arthritis, depression, panic and anxiety.  I was denied by the ALJ.  I hired one of "those" law firms that did a horrible job on my case.  They wouldn't file with the federal level, so I filed my own motions and the federal court remanded it back to the ALJ.  Well, I then filed on my own a 2nd case in Sept. of 2010.  It was denied and it was then at the reconsideration level that I hired a "real" law firm.  I just received my approval letter last week, and today in the mail another letter from SS outlining how much my benefits will be each month, the date they will be deposited, etc.  My point is that it pays to hire a reputable law firm and not a run of the mill or sweat factory law firm.  We are filing a motion with the 1st case to dismiss because, quite honestly, I have been in this "system" for 4 and a half years and I don't care to shoot craps at the table right now with the 1st ALJ.  I'll take this decision on my 2nd case and run with the money!!!  Taking into account the 5 mth holding period, my back pay will start from March of last year, so that's not too bad of a check coming.  I worked 31 yrs full time as a litigation paralegal making good money, so no complaints, and no more headaches with this SS system!  Amen.

Thank you so much for the reminder and the good news.  I am really happy this is FINALLY behind you.

I agree with you 100% about law firms.  It is so incredibly important to sign with someone you are comfortable both communicating with and working with to get your claim approved.

Thanks everyone for your posts.  Just an update.  I rec'd in the mail two letters from SS.  One was verifying what my atty told me and the other from SS was critiquing the dollar amount and what day of each mth it would be deposited into my acct.  It surely looks by the 2nd letter that they really intend to depo around Feb. 15th!  As far as back pay, I was told 30 days thereafter (the local office told me this).  Honestly, you guys, I really think I'm in shock still.  I just can't believe after all these years it's finally over.  I just can't.  I seem to have to pinch myself because, well, I just can't believe it.  Blessings to all on these boards!
