My lawyer was paid this month and he was surprised to know that I still haven't received my backpay. I have received two disability payments. My lawyer thinks the local ssa office may have some type of hold on it. He sent a letter for my funds to be released to local office. My question are: Will my back payment be direct deposited like my monthly payment? What could the hold up be? It will be six months in 3 days since I recieved my approval letter from judge. I have yet to receive any info on how much my backpay will be. How long after a representative is paid do they release the funds to claimant?

Impatiently waiting 😫

Can someone please offer some help/'suggestions? Idk what to do or think....I haven't called the local office in months because my lawyer told me every time I call it puts a hold on my disability because it starts process of applying me for SSI. Now that I have started getting disability payments... I'm not sure it matters. I have asked in past for local office to give me processing center info, but they wouldn't give me any numbers.

My best advice is to get your Congressperson involved at this point.  Six months is ridiculous, even if the back pay is large and requires a third signature - they have had plenty of time.

It's ridiculous. I talked to my lawyer again yesterday. He said there's no reason i shouldn't have it by now. He told me that the problem with the delay in backpay was solved now because a new law had been passed to resolve that. And that the local office would forward his letter to the payment center. I see there's at least 3 others on here having the same issue of delayed backpay. Please keep me posted and I will do the same.
