If there is a way to get around the double verification on the SSA website?
My phone got turned off, so I can't get the code it takes to be able to check my status online.

Any help would be appreciated.

Will it let you switch to e-mail verification?

You might need to call (which I realize is difficult if your phone is turned off) or go yo an SSA office.

Do you qualify for the lifeline phone service?

Hmmm...didn't realize I could do an email verification.  I'll go look.
I tried the phone service.  It doesn't work at my house.
Going to SSA would be more difficult since I don't have a ride.  I can use VOIP online as long as my internet doesn't go out.  It's all I have left but if eBay doesn't pick up, I won't have that next month either.

Off to go see if I can change to email verification.
Thanks Helper!

I checked.  I have to ask for a reset code and it takes 5-10 days.  I might get lucky and get the money to turn the phone back on by then.  Might as well just wait and see.

There is an option for a landline "lifeline" phone service.  So, you should not have reception issues the way you do with certain cell phone carriers.  You are only eligible for one line - either a landline or a cell phone with the service- but if the cell phone does not work than the land line would be a better option.

You can always request the reset code now & then you will be set either way.

Oh cool!  That would be great, Helper, thanks!  I'll go see.  I definitely need a phone.  If the cable goes out, I have nothing.  Wish our cable was part of it too.

If you have a landline Lifeline doesn't pay the entire monthly bill. It pays app $9-$10 on a monthly bill. It doesn't help with deposits or starting service.

Thanks Just Me.
I went and I checked out a few that are in "my area".  None were.  I am in a no coverage area which is why I had so much cell phone trouble to begin with.  None of the major carriers have towers here.  Verizon's tower is just down the street and I had prepaid with them.  It worked sometimes and sometimes it didn't.  But they don't offer Lifeline in my state.  Go figure.  lol

If at all possible...don't have your children on Wednesday.  That's me!  lol

"Monday's child is fair of face..."
by Mother Goose
Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace;
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go;
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for its living;
But the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.
