If I get approved for benefits will medicare go back and pay all of my medical bills that are past due?I am starting to build them up and I am already technically eligible for Medicare so if I am approved for disability will they go back and pay all those bills?
Thanks again to everyone.I LOVE this site.

Hey Nidra,
You get Medicare after two years from your date of entitlement.  This means that after the 5 month waiting period you count 2 years and that is the date you are eligible to receive Medicare.

Any medical bills prior to that two years Medicare will not cover.  However, Once you are approved for Disability you can get Medicare benefits back to the point of eligibility. But, you have to pay your premium backs to that date as well.

So you have to figure out how much you owe and subtract the premiums and then decide if it is worth it to pay them.  You also need to figure out how much of those bills Medicare will actually pay.  There are some things that Medicare will not cover.  It is very confusing and best done with someone that knows a lot about insurance.

The current premium for Medicare Part B  is $110.50 this year and last year it was $96.40.

I speak from experience not expertise.
