Payment Processing Center
« on: February 28, 2011, 09:03:42 PM »
I was just curious because I had my hearing the 19th of January but was given a two week extension because a important medical record of mine wasn't in yet so my lawyer received and submitted that record like the 11th and I received a call from my attorney the 23rd of February that I had a fully favorable decision. I got the letter in the mail the 24th. I have yet to receive anything else but I went to the local office to update info and they said my cases was at the Baltimore Payment Processing Center. What do you think?

Hi,
Sounds like an approval.  If they said it was in the payment processing center, then they are working on getting your payment to you.  If you set up direct deposit, check your account daily.  It just tends to show up.
I would not worry, you have had your hearing, submitted the files needed, got your approval and now they are processing your payment.  All is good.

Same problem here when I call SSA....always told it's at the payment center in Baltimore, Maryland. It has been there since April 5,2011 and my Fully Favorable ALJ Bench Decision was on March 25, 2011.

I have not received my backpay or monthly payment....have not received one cent and have not receive my Award letter.

I will be contacting my Ohio Senator after the 60th day of waiting which will be on May 25th 2011.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get my money?

I feel like my case is stalled at the payment center and my attorney has not been paid either.

Everyday I look in my checking account only to be disappointed not seeing my ssdi money.

There is really no rhyme or reason when it comes to backpay but you had to go to a hearing and your case was approved, sometimes those judges don't get the cases wrote up for months and that holds up the process. People that get approve before then seem to get theirs faster.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I did receive the ALJ written decision in the mail dated March 25 2011 same day as my hearing.

msquita79 and sandyb,
Did either of you apply for SSI in addition to your SSDI?
I was under the impression that they get your SSI payments to you pretty quickly, if you had qualified for that while you were in this process.
Our state senator DID work with the Baltimore office, in my husband's case, and get the back pay released fairly quickly.
...gotta go. Endeavor is launching and I am in a position to see it maybe.... :D

No, I did not apply for SSI.....only SSDI. You would think since I only applied for SSDI that they would process quickly...but in my case they are dragging their feet. My SSDI backpay is going to be large as I think they will pay me back to 2004, as the ALJ amended my onset date to 2004.

Sandy,
Welcome to the site.  My backpay took 60 days from my bench decision and 30 days from my decision letter.  If you do not get it, your senator is your best bet.  They must answer to them and give them specific information that others cannot get.  I would also suggest you have your attorney call the payment processing number as only attorneys and authorized reps are allowed to call for information.  Here is that number:  http://www.ssa.gov/representation/pct_contact_info.htm
The other thing you mentioned about onset date may not be what you think.  What is the date of your initial application?  The reason I ask is even if the Judge modified your onset date to 2004, they will only pay you for a year prior to the date of your application.  The only exception to that is if you had a prior application from that time period.  I would clear this up with your attorney so you have a clear understanding of what to expect.  You should get an award letter that will spell this all out but that is often received after the back pay so it may not help in this case.  Please let us know what you find out.
Marci

Thank you Marci for welcoming here. Nice to meet all you nice people and we do have lots in common with SSA problems. Glad to be here.

It seems I filed three different times prior to 2004 and maybe on 2004...I have been so sick since then that I can't remember the exact dates and times. This time though I had filed back in 2009. I am hoping they received and used my SSA file from another state, Texas...I am in Ohio right now.

Thanks for the SSA number for attorneys to call. I will copy it and see if my attorney will call it.

I called the national SSA toll free number today and they tell me it's still at the payment center and to give it until June 4th. If I haven't received it by then they say they will send a memo off to the payment center. I think by then I will get my Senator involved. I don't want to do too much because that might slow the process down. I know I mentioned earlier that I was going to get my Senator involved by May 25th but I think I will wait on that until June 4th.

Welcome to the site and conrats on the approval, even though your back pay is testing your patience. I would just like to add that getting your Senator involved WILL NOT slow things down in any way.
