SSDI Payment Dates
« on: May 17, 2011, 08:51:47 PM »
I am hoping someone with alot more knowledge about payment dates can help answer this question....I received SSI for the 5 month waiting period and so I was paid on the 3rd of each month.  I started receiving the regular SSDI payment in May and was also paid on the 3rd.  Since I am only receiving SSDI now, will Social Security change the payment date to match my birthday (payment would be the 3rd Wed. of each month instead of on the 3rd).  And if they do change this, do you know how long before they would make that change?  I am just trying to make sure and budget enough to save in case the pay dates do change so I won't find myself short for an additional 3 weeks..

Thanks for any info you can provide.    Marsha :cool3:

Hi Marsha,
interesting question. I am not sure if they will change the payment dste. My birthday is on the 8th and I get my payments on the second Wednesday of the month.

This should be noted on your SSDI approval record. If it's not, it might be worth a call to your local SSA office. I would think (hope) it's a straight forward answer!!

Marsha:

That is a very good question. One I don't think we've seen asked here before - because most who have received SSI for the 5-month waiting period were not approved until after the 5-month's had lapsed, so the SSI was paid as backpay.

My understanding is that the payment should change to match your birthdate, so a call to the local office is in order to find out why you are still receiving payment on the 3rd of the month.

Is it possible your SSDI payment is less than $674, so you are receiving SSI as well to make up the difference? People that receive both SSDI and SSI are also paid on the 3rd of the month.

Please let us know what you find out from the local office.
