Author Topic: Medicare Savings Program in Illinois is not paying my Medicare premiums  (Read 341 times)

I moved to Illinois in April and ended my Indiana MSP case and applied for the Illinois one. I got a letter from Illinois DHS in June saying I was eligible as an SLIB and benefits would start on July 1, 2016.

It is now January. The people at the Medicaid office or the help line say that it will be paid "eventually", "usually six months" after the date on the award letter. They won't give me an exact date and in the meantime, Social Security is docking my check for Medicare Part B, and even ate up all of my COLA for 2017. They say that when the state gets around to paying my Medicare premium, I'll get all the money back.

This just seems absurd. Does anyone else live in Illinois and have this problem? How long did it take you?
