Incorrect payment date?
« on: January 10, 2017, 11:01:13 AM »
Hello all!
After being in the hospitalized 5 times last year, and using 5 years worth of saved sick leave, I was unable to work any longer, and applied for SSDI in November 2016. I was very fortunate in that I was quickly approved on December 31 2016 by phone from my local SSA office, and received my approval letter dated January 3 2017.

My letter states....
We found that you became disabled under our rules on November 10 2016.
To qualify for disability benefits, you must be disabled for five full calender months in a row. The first month you are entitled to benefits is May 2017.
You will receive $XXXX.XX for May 2017 around June 28 2017.
After that you receive $XXXX.XX on or about the fourth Wednesday of each month.

My question for those that know how this system works is...
Even NOT counting the remaining part of November 2016 from my disability date of the 10th of that month, and starting my 5 month count on December 1 2016, wouldn't my 5 month period be finished on the last day of April 2017 and my first payment be made on the fourth Wednesday of May 2017?
Am I missing something in my counting? Or is this a clerical mistake that I need to call SSA about.
Thanks for any help you can give me!

Lit Love

No, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar, Aprl are the five full months.  May is the first eligible month, but it isn't paid until June.
