If someone takes early retirement-age 62 and become disabled with Cancer a year later are they
Eligible for SSDI?  If yes, can request be done online?  Thank you!

No, once you take retirement benefits you are no longer eligible for SSDI at a later time.

You can apply for SSDI & early retirement benefits at the same time if you are first applying for SSDI at 62 or later, but if SSA does not find your disability Established Onset Date on or before the day you applied for retirement benefits, you are permanently on the lower early retirement benefits.
