I created a poll.  I broke down Initial/Reconsideration approval vs ALJ/higher since it seems like it makes a difference.

My prediction is that it will be more likely that a claimant gets monthly benefits first, but I also think the poll will show that it can go either way and predicting is impossible.

There are Treasury cutoff dates every month. For checks to be issued (or electronic transfers) on the normal delivery dates, the data has to go to US Treasury from SSA by a specific cutoff date every month. If the action is taken the day after the cutoff, then the normal delivery check changes for the next month cycle, not this month cycle.

For retroactive benefits (back pay) to be sent, the amount of back pay determines which set of underpayment criteria will be applied. For certain amounts, it is a one-PIN action. For others, it can be 2 PINs or even 3 PINs. That means if two people look at a case, the reviewer (second PIN) might find something wrong with the decision and not approve the issuance until the corrections are made. Otherwise, why have a review??

None of this is within your control. The claimant can do nothing to change this.
